Three American Airlines employees received jail time for their roles using a airport security badge to help illegally transport 10 kilograms of cocaine by air from Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport without being screened by security. Airline employee Ricky B. Garner was ordered jailed for 60 months by a U.S. District Court judge in Dallas, TX for using his security badge to gain access to secure area. Former American baggage handler Thomas Jacobs also received a 5-year jail terms for sentenced for allowing a drug dealer to use his airport security badge in exchange for $600. Ronald Darby, also a baggage-handler, was fined $1,000 and placed on 5 years’ probation for aiding the circumvention of airport security. Darby earlier admitted he allowed an unauthorized person to use his American Airlines security badge to bypass airport security, in exchange for $3,000.
