Former Pilot Gets 18 Months for Forged Medical Certificate

Summary

Jarod K. Reynolds, of St. Petersburg, FL, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Tampa, FL, to 18 months in jail for using a forged Airman’s Medical Certificate. Reynolds forged the signature of the aeromedical examiner who had failed him on his medical examination and used the fraudulent document as he attempted to rent a private aircraft in January 2000. Reynolds was an airline transport pilot and flight instructor whose license had been revoked by the FAA in 1993 for lying on his medical application. He pleaded guilty in April. OIG conducted the investigation with assistance from the FAA.
