Florida Mover Handed Prison Term in Extortion Scheme

Summary

Izezo Uzi Elena, a foreman and driver for Majesty Moving & Storage of Sunrise, FL, was sentenced by U.S District Court judge in Miami to 10 months in jail and ordered to pay $27,485 in restitution. Elena pleaded guilty in September to charges of conspiracy in a scheme to make false bills of lading and extort large sums from moving customers by holding their possessions hostage. When Elena completes his prison term, he will be turned over to immigration officials for deportation proceedings. This undercover investigation, conducted jointly by OIG and the FBI with assistance from FMCSA, resulted in charges against 16 companies and 74 individuals in Miami who victimized 424 customers.
