Guilty Plea in Identify Theft Case Resulting in 27 FAA Employees Being Defrauded of Over $360,000 in Unauthorized Charges

Summary

Felicia Settles of Washington, DC pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, MD to charges of forging drivers licenses and other identity cards using personal information of at least 27 FAA employees. Settles used information taken from FAA travel vouchers illegally obtained by a contract employee to create the bogus identity cards. She and the contractor - who is still under investigation - then obtained credits cards and lines of credit from retail stores, commercial businesses and credit companies. The total loss is valued at $362,492. Sentencing is set for Sept. 20. The ongoing investigation is being conducted with the Secret Service.
