Summary

California truckers Jose Antonio Adame and Juan Carlos Landaverde, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles for conspiracy and for illegally transporting hazardous materials without the required vehicular placarding. Adame and Landaverde were arrested on July 1 and July 2, 2004 for illegally transporting 2,460 pounds of fireworks with a wholesale value of about $11,000 to California, where it is illegal to sell or use them. The task force has arrested a total of five individuals, two of whom were previously indicted, in cases involving over 28,000 pounds of fireworks.
