Trucking Company Owners and Driver Indicted for Conspiracy To Create False Drivers Logs

Summary

Robert and Rose Vyhnalek, joint owners of R.J. Vyhnalek Trucking of Wilber, NE and Richard Crawford, a Vyhnalek driver, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Omaha, NE for conspiracy and making false statements. The indictment charges that the Vyhnaleks and Crawford caused drivers’ logs to be altered and falsified in order to conceal violations of ‘hours-of-service’ regulations from the FMCSA. Crawford allegedly listed himself as a co-driver on log books when other Vyhnalek Trucking drivers were operating alone, as well as falsifying road test certificates and substance abuse rehabilitation letters involving other drivers employed by the firm. Note: As in any criminal case, a person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The charges filed merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
