Summary

Former FAA employee Paul Tomasek was sentenced in U.S. District Court, Omaha, Nebraska to 27 months in prison, 3 years supervised release and a $6,000 fine for possession of child pornography. Tomasek, a former air transportation systems specialist, was arrested at the FAA remote site located in North Platte, Nebraska for possession of child pornography. The charges stemmed from an indictment on February 18, 2004. On August 12, 2003, a search warrant was executed at Tomasek’s residence by DOT-OIG and FBI, with assistance from the Nebraska State Police. Agents seized numerous computer floppy disks and other storage media. A forensic analysis of those files by DOT-OIG revealed numerous images later confirmed to be child pornography. Tomasek's illegal activities did not occur at his workplace.
