Virginia Trucking Company Executive and Drivers Plead Guilty in Case Involving ‘Hours of Service’ Violations

Summary

Norvell Preston, former president and co-owner of K&C Trucking Co., Inc. (K&C), pled guilty in U.S. District Court, Danville, VA on January 20 to charges of conspiracy and making false statements related to drivers’ logbook entries. A day later, two K&C drivers, Harold Burnett and Melvin Jackson, pled guilty on the same charges. Preston, another co-owner of K&C, and a total of seven company drivers were indicted on similar charges in December 2002. Two other K&C drivers, pled guilty in November 2004. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled for any parties, pending receipt of additional guilty pleas expected in the case. FMCSA assisted with this investigation.
