Helicopter Mechanic Pleads Guilty to Making False Statements Involving Aircraft Maintenance

Summary

On April 15, two days into a jury trial, John Henry Ford, owner/mechanic of Raco Helicopters Corp., based at Monmouth County NJ Airport, Farmingdale, NJ, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Trenton to felony charges of making false statements related to maintenance records. In 2001 and 2003, FAA had revoked Ford’s Airframe and Power plant Certificates, but the investigation found that during that time, Ford continued to perform helicopter maintenance without the requisite supervision and falsified inspection dates even though he was not certified to perform inspections. Ford’s sentencing is scheduled for August 10, 2005. FAA assisted in this investigation.
