Summary

On July 18, Juan Francisco Alderete-Diaz, of Denver, CO, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Denver to one count of conspiracy for facilitating the unlawful sale of Colorado driver licenses, including CDLs, to illegal aliens. Sentencing is scheduled for October 7, 2005. Alderete-Diaz’s plea follows the recent arrests and indictments of two Colorado Division of Motor Vehicle (CO-DMV) employees and a second middleman on similar charges. One of the CO-DMV employees, Janet J. Gonzalez, pled guilty on July 14 and awaits sentencing in November. The other middleman, Juan Pablo Beltran, pled guilty in June to making false statements. He is currently paroled waiting sentencing. A commercial truck driving school has also been searched in connection with this ongoing joint investigation. The investigation is being conducted with the Social Security Administration, DHS-ICE, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, FBI, the Colorado Department of Revenue, and with assistance from FMCSA.
