Former Louisiana State Employee Pleads Guilty to Embezzling $40,000 from FTA grant

Summary

On October 13, Angie C. Normand, a former bookkeeper for the Capitol Regional Planning Commission (CRPC), pled guilty in East Baton Rouge Parish, LA to one felony count of theft for embezzling $40,000 in Federal funds.

Normand's sentencing date is currently set for January 15, 2007. Normand is a former book keeper for the CRPC, a transportation planning organization in Baton Rouge, LA, which receives 70% of its operating budget from FHWA and FTA. The funds which Normand embezzled were appropriated to the CRPC by FTA and FHWA. Normand was terminated from her position at the CRPC after the discovery of her activities. Her guilty plea followed the District Attorney's filing charges against her on September 18, 2006. Normand's sentencing date is currently set for January 15, 2007.
