Summary

On January 29, truck driver Kenneth Edward Matthews, of Kingman, Arizona, was sentenced by a U.S. District Court judge in Fresno, California to nine months imprisonment split between custody and home confinement for making false statements regarding the amount of time he spent behind the wheel. Matthews previously pleaded guilty to charges of keeping false driver logs while employed as a driver for NB Trucking, Inc., and its predecessor company, Nijjar Brothers Trucking Inc., both of Madera, California. Matthews is the latest driver to be sentenced in this investigation. Six other drivers and a dispatcher were previously sentenced. The owners of the two companies, four drivers, and a dispatcher are scheduled to be sentenced in March. OIG investigated this case with assistance from FMCSA and the California Highway Patrol.
