Summary

On November 14, 2008, Dusanka Valjevac was arrested in Johnson County, Texas, by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers in connection with a Federal complaint that charged her with Mail Fraud and Conspiracy. DOT/OIG received allegations that Ms. Valjevac used code words and other signals to provide test answers to applicants during written commercial driver’s license (CDL) examinations. Ms. Valjevac is a Fort Worth resident of Serbian descent who provided translation services to Balkan immigrants seeking to obtain a CDL. Ms. Valjevac was paid up to $1600 per exam. She is suspected of having provided translation services for at least 200 applicants dating back to December 2005.
DPS continues to conduct inquiries to determine if applicants aided by Ms. Valjevac still hold CDLs. DPS has changed its CDL testing protocols to limit tests to being administered in either English or Spanish only. This is an ongoing DOT/OIG investigation that is being jointly conducted with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
