Ruiz, a former hazardous materials handler for Bombardier Aerospace (BOMBARDIER) was sentenced in U.S. District Court, Peoria, Illinois, to 18 months imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, and ordered to pay $211,000 in restitution for his involvement in a stolen aircraft parts scheme.

Between October 2006 and November 2008, Mr. Ruiz was involved in a scheme to steal an estimated $1.3 million worth of aerospace parts from Bombardier, a warehouse logistics facility, which stores aerospace spare parts. Mr. Ruiz sold the stolen parts, including altimeters and microphones, on an internet auction site. The parts in question were used in commercial aviation.
