Six Indicted for Fraudulent CDL Licensing

Summary

A Federal grand jury in Biloxi, MS unsealed a six-count indictment against defendants PoBoy Services, Inc., Arthur A. Millar, Jr., Ronald W. Smiedala, Frederick F. Hooks, Timothy W. Bolton, and Michael T. Schonewitz, charging them with conspiracy and false statements involving fraudulent CDL licenses. Schonewitz was a CDL examiner for Mississippi's Department of Public Safety (DPS); the remaining defendants were employees of PoBoy Services, Inc., a commercial tow-truck company in Mobile, AL. The indictment also charges that Bolton impersonated Hooks and took a Federally required eye exam to prevent Hooks from being medically disqualified. OIG investigated this case with the FBI, FMCSA, Alabama Highway Patrol; and Mississippi's DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau and Internal Affairs Office.
