Florida Pilot Convicted for Falsifying FAA Medical Application

Summary

On October 29, Jose Francisco Guasch pled guilty in U.S. District Court, Miami, Florida, to one count of making false statements. On January 15, 2008, Mr. Guasch completed his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) “Application for Medical Certificate” indicating that he had no felonies, when in fact; he had at least three prior felony convictions. Sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2009. This investigation was conducted jointly with the FAA/Aviation Security and the Department of Homeland Security, Office of Inspector General.
