Former Police Lieutenant is Sentenced for Theft of DUI Enforcement Funds

Summary

On December 15, 2011, Shawn Lane, former Lieutenant, City of Jennings, Missouri, Police Department, was sentenced in St. Louis County Circuit Court to a five year suspended sentence; five years probation; restitution of $16,515; special assessment of $46; and ordered to not be employed by any law enforcement.  Earlier in December 2011, Lane pleaded guilty to a state felony charge, admitting he stole grant money from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA); Central Missouri State University; Missouri Department of Transportation; and the City of Jennings, Missouri, by reporting he worked more overtime on grant funded assignments than he actually did.  The City of Jennings Police Department had received money from NHTSA for DUI enforcement. 

This case was worked jointly with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office.
