Great Lakes Concrete, Inc. Pleads Guilty to Violating the Sherman Act

Summary

On August 24, 2011, Great Lakes Concrete, Inc. (Great Lakes) pleaded guilty to participating in a price-fixing and bid-rigging conspiracy for the sales of ready-mix concrete.  Great Lakes, particularly through its President Kent Robert Stewart and its sales manager Steven Keith VandeBrake, admitted to conspiring to fixing prices and rigging bids with another ready-mix concrete company for the sale of ready-mix concrete in Iowa.  During the period of the January 2008 through August 2009, approximately $1.8 million in ready-mix concrete sales were affected by this conspiracy. 

This case was worked in cooperation with the US Attorney's Office, Antitrust Division, Chicago, and the FBI's Sioux City, Iowa office.
