Summary

On September 21, 2012, in the United States District Court, Nashville, Tennessee, Allen Roy DeFoe was sentenced in conjunction with obstruction of justice charges. Mr. DeFoe was fined $4,000; sentenced to serve 36 months of probation with the first 6 months served as home confinement with electronic monitoring, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.

During the course of OIG's investigation, Mr. DeFoe, the former owner of Tennessee Guardrail, Inc., was ordered to produce multiple documents relating to his business and the awarding of gifts to employees of the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Agents subsequently learned that between May and August 2006, Mr. Defoe shred these various documents to avoid providing them to the Department of Justice.   

This investigation was worked jointly with the United States Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
