Summary

We will review the Department’s oversight of the growing use of regional jets and the effects of that use on aviation operations and competition. Specifically, we will: (1) identify how the airlines are using regional jets to replace and supplement mainline service, introduce new service, and replace service previously operated with turboprop equipment, and (2) estimate the impact of regional jets on airfares and services.
