WASHINGTON -- An archived webcast of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's July 13, 2012 "Implementing New Requirements for Incorporation by Reference" workshop is now available to view online.

More than 70 industry and government representatives were present during the meeting, which was held to discuss solutions for implementing Section 24 of the Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty, and Job Creation Act of 2011 in a public forum with feedback from affected parties, workshop participants, and the general public.

Nearly 200 spectators pointed their browsers at the webcast, watching as delegates from a number of public and private sector entities -- including the U.S. Small Business Association, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, the Pipeline Safety Trust, PublicResource.org, and several voluntary consensus standard-making organizations -- discussed strategies for implementing the new law beginning in January 2013.

Section 24 states that the Secretary of Transportation no longer issue guidance or a regulation that incorporates by reference any documents or portions thereof unless they are made available to the public on the internet for free.

Comments will be accepted until July 27, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.

The archived webcast will be available for one year.
