Hazardous Material Inspector Investigator Partner Training Program (HMI2)

The Hazardous Material Inspector/Investigator (HMI2) Partner training program is designed to provide free training to federal, state or local law enforcement personnel interested in the hazardous materials regulations (HMR). The training is conducted by investigators from the USDOT’s Office of Hazardous Materials Safety. Training available from the Certification and Standards Branch (CSB) includes:

  • Introduction to 49 CFR and the Hazardous Material Table
  • Hazard Communication: (Shipping Documents, Marking, Labeling, Placarding & Emergency Response Information requirements)
  • Requirements for the transportation of explosive hazardous materials
  • Transportation and requalification of DOT Specification cylinders
  • Transportation requirements for Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs)
  • Training requirements for Hazmat Employees.
