The San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA) opened the new westbound Interstate 80 on- and off-ramps connecting Yerba Buena Island and Treasure Island to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge to traffic on October 22, 2016.

Billy Bradford acknowledges that acquiring old bikes, repairing them in his garage and then giving them away for free is a “bad business model,” but it’s what he loves doing. “I can’t fix all the problems (of the world), but I can fix bikes,” he said.
Vital Signs
MTC is measuring the Bay Area’s performance on a range of issues to better understand where we are succeeding and where we are falling short.
We make better decisions about transportation, land use, the environment and the economy by collecting our region’s vital signs.
MTC developed Vital Signs – our interactive website that tracks what we’re doing now, what we’ve done in the past, and where we’re headed in the future.
Plans + Projects
MTC crafts the long-range Plan Bay Area and other targeted plans, and champions the projects and initiatives aimed at fulfilling these visions.
Fund + Invest
MTC establishes regional funding priorities and allocates some $1.5 billion annually to public transit, highways, local streets and roads, freight facilities, and bicycle and pedestrian routes.
Operate + Coordinate
MTC spearheads and manages regional programs such as the Clipper® transit fare card and forges the institutional ties needed to improve the efficiency of the transportation network.
Advocate + Lead
MTC promotes Bay Area priorities in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., and helps the region put its best foot forward in the often intense competition for state and federal transportation funding.
