Opening Remarks: Lifesavers 

Good morning. I’m Dr. Mark Rosekind, the administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It is my honor to be here to help open the 2016 Lifesavers National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities — what some of us have affectionately come to call the Woodstock of road safety, or maybe because we’re in California, it should be the Coachella of road safety.

I am also proud to be here as Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx’s representative at this conference. We have a lot to discuss at this conference, and the stakes are high. Over the next three days, the thousands of highway safety experts assembled here will trade stories, ideas and innovative solutions that we will all take back to our communities to make them safer.
