Summary

On February 12, 2008, Alan Maliszewski and Elaine Slomsky, former Quality Assurance Manager and former Quality Assurance Supervisor, respectively, for aircraft parts manufacturer Anco-Tech Inc. (Anco), were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Detroit, Michigan, for their part in a criminal conspiracy to commit aircraft parts fraud. Mr. Maliszewski was sentenced to 1 year incarceration, to be followed by 3 years supervised release, and Ms. Slomsky was sentenced to 2 years probation.

In June 2005 the U.S. Attorney's Office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, charged both Mr. Maliszewski and his brother, Andrew Maliszewski (a former Anco Vice President) with conspiracy to commit aircraft parts fraud and mail fraud. Ms. Slomsky and Barbara McCoy, a fellow Supervisor, were charged in a separate filing with four counts of making false statements related to certifications for V-22 military aircraft parts. Ms. McCoy pled guilty in June 2005 and cooperated with the investigation; she is currently awaiting sentencing. Andrew Maliszewski pled guilty to the fraud charges in April 2005 and was sentenced to 6 months incarceration and 24 months supervised release.

The investigation was worked jointly with the Defense Criminal Investigative Service and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The FAA issued an industrywide safety alert for the parts in question. The U.S. Department of Defense dropped criminal charges and debarment proceedings against Anco because the company is now defunct, but has initiated debarment proceedings against all four defendants.
