Summary

We initiated an audit of DOT's public transit and passenger rail security initiatives. Our objectives are to assess (1) DOT’s roles and responsibilities; (2) DOT’s efforts to collaborate and coordinate with the Department of Homeland Security on security rulemaking, oversight, and enforcement; and (3) the extent and effectiveness of DOT funding for securing the public transit and passenger rail system.
