Summary

On January 14, 2013, we announced our audit of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) efforts to improve operational efficiency. Based on the results of our preliminary audit work, we are revising the audit’s scope to focus on FHWA’s workforce planning efforts. Our revised objective is to review FHWA’s processes and procedures for assessing its workforce needs. Specifically, we will assess FHWA’s processes for determining the needed number, composition, and location of staff to achieve current and future agency goals and evaluate how FHWA uses its workforce assessments when making staffing assignments and requests.
