Description
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is the nation's authority on vehicle-related safety. NHTSA 's SaferCar app provides important information and functions that will help you make informed safety decisions involving your vehicle. Features include:
· 5-Star Safety Ratings: Buy safe by looking up a vehicle’s crash test ratings and comparing ratings for different vehicles.
· Recalls and Complaints: Drive safe by staying on top of safety issues for your vehicles. Record all your vehicles so you can be notified by NHTSA if a safety issue becomes known; the app also makes it simple to submit complaints to NHTSA when you believe there is a possible safety problem with your vehicle.
· Help Installing Child Seats: Ensure your most precious passengers ride safe. Quickly find and get driving directions to where you can get assistance on making sure your child seats are properly installed, no matter where you are.
· Safety Headlines and Alerts: Receive important news and information from NHTSA, as well as recall notices on your list of vehicles.

Works, mostly, for me Installed on my Nexus 7 and LG G2. Stored my cars by VIN. Set up notifications. Checked recalls and complaints. Did try one lookup that didn't work (at least the way I wanted it to) - for location to check carseat installation. Didn't take zip and seemed like it wanted my GPS on to do the lookup. Disappointed I couldn't do a simple zip search. Everything else I tried worked flawlessly. And my mother installed on her Galaxy S5 with no issues as well.

Nope..doesnt work. App doesnt work. Wont load models..samsung galaxy s3. Figures, its a government app. Prolly needs a few billion thrown at it then a private company to fix it...

Meh This app has the potential to be very useful but falls short. Pushing new recalls out as notifications is good, but when I click on it, it takes me to the recall search page, not the details for that particular recall. It would also be cool to enter in the manufacturer model and date of a child restraint to see if they are any recalls (even cooler if the info was made into a QR code that was standard by all manufacturers!) or allow consumers to register seats for recall notices like you can for vehicles.
What's New
- Added recalls for child seats and tires

SaferRide
Too drunk to drive means too drunk for complicated apps.
SaferRide is the simplest possible way to get home safe and only has three self-explanatory buttons on the Home screen.
• Choose from a list of available taxi services in your area, and with the tap of a button call them.
• Call a pre-programmed contact.
• If you just need to know where you are, you can bring up a map of your current location.
SaferRide was developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA is dedicated to saving lives by reducing the number of deaths and injuries on our nation’s roadways. Each year on average, more than 10,000 people are killed by drunk drivers.
So please help end drunk driving by doing your part: don’t drive if you’ve been drinking. Use NHTSA’s SaferRide app to get home safely.
