Equal Employment Opportunity

Federal Employees/Applicants for Federal Employment

It is the policy of the Federal Railroad Administration to provide equal employment opportunity for all of its employees and applicants for employment in every aspect of their employment and working conditions. Important aspects of an effective equal employment opportunity program are a vigorous affirmative action program and a discrimination processing system which facilitates the early informal resolution of complaints.

Railroad Employees

If an employee of a private railroad (like a class 1 or class 2 railroad) feels they are being discriminated against by their employer (the railroad), they may pursue complaints of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  The EEOC has jurisdiction over employment discrimination by private company employers.  You can find further information at their website, listed under See Also.
