Office of Public Engagement

The Office of Public Engagement (OPE) provides direct support to the Federal Railroad Administrator, the Deputy Administrator, Executive Director and program offices in support of stakeholders' engagement and outreach assistance.

Within OPE, the Executive Secretariat team ensures all Department officials are included in the Administrator’s and the Secretary of Transportation’s correspondence drafting and policy making process through a managed clearance and control system.  Electronic documents maintained by the Executive Secretariat team are also a valuable historical resource. When properly filed and archived, they will serve as the historical evidence of the Department's organization, functions, policies, decisions, procedures and operations.

Overall, the Executive Secretariat's responsibilities include:

  • correspondence analysis,
  • control and tracking of correspondence,
  • arrangement of documentation presentation,
  • dissemination of written material of varying formats and contents,
  • organization and safe-keeping of official documents and records.
