PHMSA’s Pipeline Safety Research & Development grants sponsor projects focused on providing solutions that will improve pipeline safety, reduce the environmental impact of failures, and enhance the reliability of the nation’s 2.6 million mile pipeline transportation network. These grants align with PHMSA’s research strategic plan, which encourages a collaborative approach to addressing pipeline challenges. Further, PHMSA’s research and development grant program, consists of the Competitive Academic Agreement Program (CAAP), which encourages the participation of student researchers to develop innovative approaches to research and problem-solving the nation’s biggest pipeline challenges.
