Talking Freight Seminars

Attention AICP Members

Talking Freight seminars may be eligible for 1.5 AICP Certification Maintenance Credits.

The Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Office of Freight Management and Operations and the Office of Planning host the "Talking Freight" seminars. The seminars are part of a broader Freight Professional Development Program aimed at providing technical assistance, training, tools, and information to help the freight and planning workforce meet the transportation challenges of tomorrow. Seminars are held via web conference on a monthly basis throughout the year and are open at no cost to all interested parties in both the public and private sectors. There is no special equipment required to participate, all that is needed is a computer with Internet connectivity to view the presentations and audio can either be heard over the computer or phone.

Register for Upcoming Seminars

To register for a seminar, select the seminar topic in the table below. You will be taken to a registration form on the National Highway Institute Web site. You must register individually for each seminar in which you are interested. When registering you will be asked to enter your name, organization, phone number, and email address. This information will only be used to keep track of seminar participation and will not be shared with others. Please make sure you enter your email address correctly, as you will be sent login information via email. If you register for a seminar and later find out you can no longer attend, please inform Nicole Coene (Leidos) via e-mail at nicole.l.coene@leidos.com.

Talking Freight seminars may be eligible for 1.5 AICP Certification Maintenance Credits. In order to receive credit, you must attend the full seminar and login to the seminar with your full name or type your full name into the chat area during the seminar if you are in a room with a group of people. November 16, 2016 1:00-2:30 p.m. ET	State Freight Plans and State Freight Advisory Committees – FAST Act Guidance Overview	The State Freight Plan Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) guidance was published in the Federal Register on October 14, 2016. The guidance outlines the requirements for States to prepare FAST Act-compliant state freight plans, and to ensure they are eligible to continue to obligate the new National Highway Freight Program (FAST Act Section 1116) formula funds after the two-year anniversary of the FAST Act on December 4, 2017. The FAST Act State Freight Plan guidance builds upon the MAP-21 State Freight Plan interim guidance many States used to prepare plans prior to enactment of the FAST Act. In addition to discussing the statutory requirements for state freight plans, the new guidance also provides State Freight Advisory Committee recommendations. This webinar will provide information to aid States in complying with the FAST Act requirements relating to State Freight Plans and Freight Advisory Committees. Participants are encouraged to ask questions.	Ryan Endorf, U.S. DOT Office of the Secretary, Office of Transportation Policy Tiffany Julien, Federal Highway Administration, Office of Freight Management and Operations Katelyn Dwyer, American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials Staff from the Federal Railroad Administration and the Maritime Administration will be available to answer questions as part of the webinar.

Freight Planning LISTSERV

Information about the Talking Freight Seminar Series, including upcoming topics and registration availability, is distributed through the Freight Planning LISTSERV. The LISTSERV also provides a venue for exchanging information about freight planning among public and private sector professionals. There are over 800 subscribers, comprised of transportation professionals from State DOTs, MPOs, professional associations, businesses, the academic community, and others.
