Description

The President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) is a 30.5-mile circumferential toll roadway connecting various cities in the northern part of the Dallas Metroplex. Originally planned as an outer loop around the City of Dallas, the PGBT is an integral part of the metropolitan transportation system. The original facility was completed in 2006.

The Eastern Extension is a 9.9-mile extension of the PGBT to the south and east connecting SH-78 in Garland to IH-30. The 6-lane Eastern Extension received environmental clearance in late 2005. Construction began in October of 2008 and opened to motorists on December 21, 2011.

Original PGBT: $530.5 million

Eastern Extension: $1.05 billion

The original PGBT was fully opened in 2006. Construction on the Eastern Extension began in October 2008 and opened to motorists on December 21, 2011.

Financial Status

Original PGBT: Closed

Eastern Extension: A $160 million toll equity grant from TxDOT to the NTTA was approved on August 23, 2007 for ROW and other costs

Original PGBT: The first project in the United States to benefit from TE-045 innovative finance provisions including:
