The Linda Hall Library is a privately-endowed research library of science, engineering, and technology that is open to the public. The Linda Hall is used extensively by companies, academic institutions and individuals throughout the world. It is located on the site of the Hall's former home on a 14 acre arboretum in Kansas City, Missouri. The public is welcome to use the collections within the library without cost. Tours of the library and grounds are available daily.
The Library was established by the wills of Herbert and Linda Hall and opened in 1946.
What are the particular subject strengths of your collection?:
With its 1995 acquisition of the Engineering Societies Library, the Library offers technical meeting papers from each associated engineering society, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME). Additionally, the collection of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) broadens an already strong collection in Aerospace engineering and history. The Library also owns a significant collection of historical and current engineering standards and specifications issued by industry and government.
