The Hotline and Investigations Division executes the Department of Defense Inspector General Hotline program within the Department of the Navy (DON). Our purpose is to identify and eliminate fraud, waste, mismanagement and inefficiencies in the operation of the U.S. Navy. We provide a confidential avenue for individuals to report allegations of wrongdoing pertaining to programs, personnel, and operations that fall under the purview of the DON pursuant to the Inspector General Act of 1978.
There are three Branches that comprise the Hotline and Investigations Division: Hotline Administration, Investigations, and Military Whistleblower. The Hotline Administration Branch establishes policy and procedures on the efficiency of the DON Hotline program; and receives, reviews and processes incoming contacts and complaints. The Investigations Branch investigates complaints or allegations of wrongdoing and misconduct that involve or give rise to fraud, waste, or mismanagement within the programs and operations of the DON. Both of these Branches also provide oversight of Echelon II IG investigations. Additionally, the Military Whistleblower Reprisal Branch is responsible for investigating and providing oversight of Echelon II IG investigations of allegations of Military Whistleblower Reprisal filed by active duty, reserve, retired and former DON military members.
