Special Studies

The Naval Inspector General's Special Studies Division reviews, researches and analyzes topics of special interest to the Department of the Navy. It provides Navy leadership with timely and implementable recommendations for corrective action and maintains close liaison for follow-on action, as required. The Special Studies Division frequently apprises Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) of the effectiveness of Navy programs and policies, and often undertakes urgent, sensitive assessments at the request of SECNAV and CNO. In addition to their general duties, research analysts, engineers and industrial hygienists serve as scientific, technical, engineering and/or safety & occupational health experts.
