Welcome to Dermatologic Oncology/ Mohs Surgery
The Dermatologic Oncology/Mohs Surgery Service provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients of all ages with melanoma, basal or squamous cell carcinoma, cutaneous lymphomas, and various other skin malignancies.
Mohs surgery
is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. It is a highly specialized and precise treatment for skin cancer during which the cancer is removed in stages, one tissue layer at a time.
As a member of the Walter Reed-Bethesda Murtha Cancer Center of Excellence, we also have active clinical research programs with goals to better understand the pathogenesis of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer through tissue banking in the biospecimen network and retrospective melanoma studies.
Our physicians, several of whom serve as faculty for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, are board-certified (American Board of Dermatology), and all of our subspecialists received civilian-fellowship training. Our patients are treated by our staff physicians, resident physicians of the National Capitol Consortium (NCC) Dermatology Residency Program, and highly trained ancillary staff. We additionally have several world expert, consultant dermatologists who offer their expertise to our patients.
By providing high quality patient care services, the Mohs and general dermatologic surgeons are able to achieve their primary mission of prevention and treatment of skin malignancy.
We offer:
Routine skin cancer screening
