Whistleblower Reprisal Investigations
Ms. Nilgun Tolek, Director
Mission
The Directorate for Whistleblower Reprisal Investigations (WRI) is responsible for objectively and thoroughly investigating (or providing oversight of Service/Component IG investigations of) whistleblower reprisal complaints filed by members of the armed forces, appropriated and nonappropriated fund employees of the DoD, and employees of DoD contractors and subcontractors.
Whistleblowers can perform an important public service – often at great professional and personal risk – by exposing fraud, waste, and abuse within the programs and operations of the Department. Mindful that disclosures brought to light by whistleblowers are critical to multiple DoD OIG core mission areas (including audits, evaluations, and investigations), WRI strives to maintain the model whistleblower protection program in the federal government.
