Virtual Wargamers Needed to Solve DON's Data Dilemma: Join the Discussion April 6-17 —The Office of Strategy & Innovation, Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy (Management), together with the Naval Postgraduate School, is seeking new ideas and perspectives to tackle these complex challenges. A broad audience of experts are invited to participate in Data Dilemma: Share vs Silo MMOWGLI (Massive Multiplayer Online Wargame Leveraging the Internet) from April 6-17, 2015.

USS Constitution Welcomes Harlem Globetrotters — The crew of USS Constitution welcomed members of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters to the ship for a show aboard Old Ironsides March 24. The Globetrotters are an exhibition basketball team that performs throughout the world — combining feats of athleticism, theater and comedy in their shows. The Globetrotters, known for their support of the U.S. armed forces, are now in their 89th season.

A Cyber Moment: ONR Reservist Wins Federal 100 Award — For contributions to emergent technologies from augmented-reality training to tactical cyber warfare, Lt. Cmdr. Tom McAndrew of the Office of Naval Research (ONR) March 26 became the first ONR Reservist to win a Federal 100 Award. The awards are presented to government, industry and academic leaders who have played pivotal roles in the use of information technology by the federal government.

USS Blue Ridge Rescues Fishermen in Philippine Sea — Sailors stationed onboard the U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) rendered assistance to a fishing vessel in the Philippine Sea, March 25. The vessel was taken out by the current, leaving them adrift for three days with no food.

Navy Warfare Center Division Conducts Production Acceptance Test of Tomahawk Missile — The Navy's Tactical Tomahawk missile underwent a successful production acceptance test March 19 using functional ground test (FGT) capability at Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division's (NSWC IHEODTD) Large Rocket Motor Test Facility in Indian Head, Maryland. The Tomahawk land attack missile - managed by Naval Air Systems Command's (NAVAIR) Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO(U&W)) - is an all-weather, long-range, sub-sonic cruise missile used for land attack warfare, and is launched from U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines.

CNO's Navy Leader Development Strategy Advances at Naval War College — The way ahead for implementing the Navy Leader Development Strategy (NLDS) across the Navy began to take shape March 17-19, during an initial working group meeting at U.S. Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, Rhode Island. NLDS was signed by Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert in 2013 and is intended to provide a common framework for comprehensive and enduring leader development across all Navy communities. Since then, there have been ongoing efforts by the Navy's Leader Development Continuum Council (LDCC), a body of flag officers and senior enlisted representatives across the fleet charged with driving this effort, to create a single vision of Navy leader development that binds together members of the naval profession.

SECNAV Completes Partnership-Building Visit to Indonesia — Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus completed a partnership-building visit to Indonesia on March 24. Mabus was in the area to meet with senior military and civilian officials to discuss bilateral and multilateral maritime security issues and efforts. Meetings were held with Indonesia's minister of maritime affairs and fisheries, the head of the Indonesian Bureau of Search and Rescue and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Adm. Ade Supandi.
