Welcome to the Office of the Foreign Policy Advisor (FPA), United States Africa Command.  The FPA is a senior Foreign Service Officer who serves as the advisor to the Combatant Commander, United States Africa Command. The FPA provides counsel on U.S. Foreign Policy and ensures that the Command’s strategy, plans and programs are well aligned to serve our national interest.  Working with over 40 United States embassies on the African continent, and the United States Department of State in Washington D.C., the FPA keeps the Commanding General apprised of a wide range of policy developments, emerging trends in Africa and other activities affecting the continent.

Mission

Provides policy guidance and counsel to the Combatant Commander, United States Africa Command, on the geo-political, political-military, economic and security factors affecting the United States Africa Command Area of Responsibility, and ensures Command activities are consistent with U.S. Foreign Policy objectives in Africa and its territorial waters.
