Sequestration And Furlough, The Financial Impact
Recently, Department of the Defense (DOD) civilian personnel were informed that, as a result of sequestration, there may be a possible furlough on the horizon. Sequestration, as a result of budget shortfalls, entails the permanent cancellation of budgetary resources by a uniform percentage across the federal government. This would require all military services and defense agencies to furlough most DOD civilian employees for an average of one day per week for up to 22 weeks beginning April 25. This action equates to a 20 percent cut in pay for DOD employees.

Medical Center Ready for Early Flu Season
On Monday, the flu mobilization unit, also known as the “Blue Tent”, began offering flu vaccinations to patients, military beneficiaries and staff members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Mighty Medics raise funds for suicide prevention Members of the Mental Health Flight at Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk on Washington, D.C. for suicide prevention.
