AESD Background
In March 2009, the Army began an initiative to develop better IT support to users across the Army enterprise
by standardizing and centralizing IT service desk operations across the Army. In May 2012, the AESD was declared an essential part of the Army IT infrastructure
for providing effective and efficient IT customer support. The enterprise IT service desk construct was expanded by Army Chief Information Officer (CIO)/G-6
federating regional and selected Command IT service desks.
