Advanced Medical Department Officer Course

The Advanced Medical Department Officer Course is the second course in the Medical Department Officer’s Learning Continuum.  The course is designed to prepare medical department officers and senior civilians for increased responsibilities as senior officers and leaders who understand the "practice and business" of Navy Medicine in both operational and MTF settings.  The Advanced Course is an important point along the Officer Learning Continuum and a natural progression from the Basic Medical Department Officer’s Course.

Eligibility


Medical Department Officers in grades O-4 to O-5. Civilian employees grade GS12 and above.
 
Pre-requisite: Basic Navy Medical Department Officer's Course which is available through Navy E-Learning following the steps below:
  1. Navigate to Navy E-Learning > Online Courses [now NETC Learning Management System]
  2. Select tab "Course Catalog"
  3. Under learning Category
  4. Select "USN Department of the Navy (DON) Training"
  5. Scroll down to Select "Navy Medical Education and Training" in the right column
  6. Select "Basic Medical Department Officer Course (BMDOC)"
  7. Scroll down to see Active learning modules
  8. Select ENROLL for each unit and add to Learning Plan
  9. Return to tab My Learning and LAUNCH course
The Basic Medical Department Officer Course is a three unit course in the Medical Department Officer's Learning Continuum (all units must be completed). The course is designed to introduce medical department officers to the organization, structure, business practices and operational policies of the Naval Medical Department. Course units that have been updated are 'retired' and only accessible to previously enrolled students; new units will be indicated as "active."

Funding/Billeting


NMPDC provides full funding for Active Duty. NMPDC is not authorized to fund rental cars. Active Duty billeting is at contract hotel with reservations made by NMPDC. SELRES are funded by RESCEN, billeting reservations are made by Reserve member.
