NCCOSC Research Facilitation Department
The Research Facilitation Department at NCCOSC promotes research in the areas of military psychological health, operational injuries and evidence-based treatment, with the goals of building resilience and preventing or alleviating psychological injuries.
Research Facilitation staff, located at the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton (MCBCP), includes subject-matter experts with backgrounds in clinical and research psychology, public health, statistics and clinical research coordination.
The department collaborates with Navy Line, Fleet Marine Forces and Navy Medicine clinicians, residents, interns and community researchers who might lack time, experience, funding or support to collect and analyze data and disseminate results. The staff supports a broad spectrum of studies with involvement ranging from study design, obtaining appropriate Internal Review Board (IRB) approvals, subject recruitment and enrollment, data collection, data management and analysis and dissemination of results.
The department ensures that relevant research questions are posed, existing data are captured, screening techniques are validated, military psychological health delivery is informed by science and evidence-based practice is advanced.
