Sailors from guided-missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74) volunteered at the Centro Laila Orphanage in Mondragone, Italy, during a port visit to Gaeta, Italy, Mar. 12.
Thirty-five crew members of the USS GONZALEZ, alongside 12 Georgian Special Forces members, volunteered time and energy to provide repair work and maintenance at the Makhinjauri Children's House outside of Batumi. The military teams painted 3 rooms, chopped and stored firewood and performed much-needed electrical repairs. The crew's community service day underscored not only strong military-to-military ties, but also the vibrant people-to-people connection between the U.S and Georgia. Three Multinational Battle Group East Soldiers were recently welcomed into the Sgt. Morales Club, a United States Army-Europe (USAREUR) program that recognizes high-performing noncommissioned officers.
The United States Army Garrison--Stuttgart motto is a good one and says a lot about our community. The Garrison leadership's goal is to have people say "I'm glad I live here." Stuttgart is a wonderful city, and the USAG Stuttgart is a fantastic place to live and serve.
