USAG Bavaria - Hohenfels Community

Mission

• The USAG Bavaria installation in Hohenfels consists of one installation. It is about an hour south of Grafenwoehr and Vilseck and about two and a half hours north of Garmisch. USAG Bavaria - Hohenfels includes the Hohenfels Training Area, which is is 163 km² large. It provides premier installation management support and services that enhance the readiness of joint and multinational forces, ensures the highest level of quality of life in a secure and sustainable environment, and enables Soldiers to soldier, Leaders to lead, and Families to grow. It supports two primary mission partners: The Joint Multinational Readiness Center and the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment.

Joint Multinational Readiness Center

• The Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels falls under the leadership of the Joint Multinational Training Command, which is headquartered in Grafenwoehr on Tower Barracks.The JMRC is a Europe-based combat training center — with a world-wide mobile training capability — trains leaders, staffs and units up to brigade combat teams and multinational partners, to dominate in the conduct of unified land operations anywhere in the world, now and in the future.

1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment

• The 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, or 1-4 IN, serves as Opposition Forces (OPFOR) during training rotations. It conducts combat operations throughout the full spectrum of the contemporary operational environment in order to provide realistic joint and combined arms training conditions focused on developing Soldiers, leaders, and units for success on current and future battlefields throughout U.S. Army Europe.
