Navy Region Southwest Executive Director

Joe Stuyvesant served in the United States Navy for 30 years, after graduating with a BBA from the University of New Mexico.  He has also earned an MBA in Finance from the University of San Diego.

His primary assignment in the Navy was as a Naval Aviator.  He has deployed numerous times to the Western Pacific and the Arabian Gulf flying off of Cruisers, Destroyers, and Frigates as well as serving on three different Aircraft Carriers, including operations in support of OPERATION DESERT STORM. 

His assignments ashore included duty as an Instructor Pilot and as a staff officer on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  He served as Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily and Commander, Al Asad Air Base Command Group, Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.   His final assignment in the Navy was as the Chief of Staff for Navy Region Southwest. 

Upon his retirement, Mr. Stuyvesant accepted the position of the N3, Director of Operations, for Navy Region Southwest.  He held this position from September 2010, until August 2015.  In this capacity he was responsible for the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection, Federal Fire, Emergency Management, Air Operations, Port Operations and Regional Safety programs supporting 10 Naval Installations throughout the Southwest.

Mr. Stuyvesant currently serves as Navy Regions Southwest’s Executive Director.
