SKOPJE, Macedonia -- Dr. Vladimir Chadikovski, pediatric surgeon, explains the functions of the various machines to U.S. Ambassador Philip Reeker during a tour of the hospital. The United States European Command coordinated with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Macedonia, donated $350,000 of equipment to the State University Hospital. The donation allowed for a complete renovation of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic and the purchase of top quality medical equipment designed to help the recovery of Macedonia's youngest patients. The hospital employs highly specialized personnel to perform a wide spectrum of treatments, including complex surgeries on the preterm born infants and children up to 14 years of age. The hospital performs around 20,000 medical examinations and between 1,400 and 1,500 operations/surgeries per year.
