Personal Financial Management Blog

Welcome to the NDW pfm blog.

FFSC PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (PFM) Program Overview

Management of personal finance is an increasing challenge to military members and their families. In accordance with SECNAVINST 1740.4 and OPNAVINST 1740.5B, Fleet and Family Support Centers (FFSC) offer Personal Financial Management and Education programs.

Although all of the life skills programs offered by the Fleet and Family Support Centers are valuable and important, PFM is especially crucial by coaching service personnel and their family members into adapting good habits for managing personal finances.

The Fleet and Family Support Center Personal Financial Managers provide coaching through one-on-one discussions, classes or workshops on over 18 money topics such as: Saving & Investing, Home Buying, Car Buying, Retirement Planning as well as "getting the most bang for your buck" today.

PFM coaching can prevent or reduce financially related stress and difficulties. This is done by a three pronged program approach of informing, educating or referring to a host of other valuable agencies which may include outside resources like the Federal Trade Commission or higher echelons like Navy Legal Services Office when necessary.
