I'm Using TRICARE Young Adult
TRICARE Young Adult is a plan that adult children may qualify to purchase once they “age out” of regular TRICARE benefits. Because you’re purchasing extended coverage after your TRICARE benefit ends, you can’t switch to another TRICARE plan because you’re no longer eligible for any of the other TRICARE plans.
However, TRICARE Young Adult has two enrollment options: Prime and Standard. You may be able to switch enrollment options, depending on your sponsor’s military status and where you live.

Switching Options
Within the Same Region
If you’re switching in the same region:
- Your regional contractor won’t change.
- Tell your contractor you want to switch options
- Your contractor will simply adjust future premium payments to Prime or Standard
